The legendary South African batsman, AB de Villiers, showcased his enduring talent by scoring a rapid century in just 28 balls at the Taste of SuperSport Park charity game in Centurion. De Villiers, representing Titans Legends, delivered a stunning innings packed with 15 sixes. He retired immediately after reaching his hundred, contributing to his team’s imposing total of 269 runs in 20 overs.
In the same event, AB de Villiers praised Virat Kohli for his proactive approach in the recent Indian Premier League season. De Villiers believes that winning an IPL title with Royal Challengers Bengaluru would be the perfect culmination to Kohli’s illustrious career.
Reflecting on criticism aimed at Kohli’s strike rate earlier in the IPL season, De Villiers defended his compatriot, calling the scrutiny ‘ridiculous’. He emphasized that Kohli played according to the team’s needs and adapted his game based on the match situation and partners at the crease. De Villiers highlighted Kohli’s ability to anchor innings and also accelerate when the situation demands.
In the initial matches of the IPL season, Kohli amassed 319 runs at an impressive average of nearly 80, including a century and two half-centuries. However, his strike rate of approximately 141 faced criticism from some fans and analysts, who felt it was hindering Royal Challengers Bengaluru’s scoring momentum.
