Rajasthan Royals clarified that Jofra Archer`s absence is due to an injury, stating they are prioritizing his fitness rather than his unavailability being linked to the team`s playoff chances.
Moeen Ali, representing Kolkata Knight Riders, is reportedly undecided about returning, with his father indicating that more clarity will be available within 24 hours.
A significant factor affecting player availability is the upcoming ODI series against West Indies. The ECB recently named Archer, Bethell, Buttler, Jacks, and Overton in the squad for these matches scheduled for May 29, June 1, and June 3.
This national call-up means that these players, even if they return for the league stage, will not be available for the IPL playoffs, which begin on May 29. They are required to return to England after the IPL league phase concludes on May 27.
The IPL resumes on May 17 in Bengaluru. The knockout stage runs from May 29 to the final on June 3, directly clashing with the West Indies ODI series.
