The Australian cricket team engaged in a rigorous three-hour practice session at the ICC Academy on Sunday afternoon, with a strong emphasis on improving their game against spin bowling.
While seasoned players such as Steve Smith and Travis Head had a relaxed session, the younger members of the team trained with full intensity.
The Australian team strategically selected seven net bowlers from the ICC academy for practice. All of these bowlers were spinners, encompassing a variety of styles including slow left-arm orthodox, left arm Chinaman, off-spinners, and a leg-spinner. Among them was Harshit Seth, a 20-year-old UAE player specializing in slow left-arm orthodox bowling.
Australia concluded their Group B matches in second place, following South Africa. Both teams are currently stationed in the UAE, awaiting the announcement of their opponents for the upcoming semifinals.
Australia is set to face the leading team from Group A, either India or New Zealand, in their semifinal encounter.
The first semifinal match, involving India, is scheduled to be held in Dubai on Tuesday, while the second semifinal will take place in Lahore on Wednesday.
Following Sunday’s training, spinner Harshit Seth revealed that the Australian batsmen instructed the net bowlers to deliver balls at a specific length that would encourage them to practice their drive and flick shots.
