Bangladesh Set to Host Zimbabwe in Two-Test Series This April

The Bangladesh Cricket Board has announced that Zimbabwe will tour Bangladesh starting April 15 for a two-Test match series.

This series marks Zimbabwe’s first Test visit to Bangladesh in five years. Their last Test match in Bangladesh was in February 2020, where Bangladesh secured a victory by an innings and 106 runs.

The first Test is scheduled to begin on April 20 at the Sylhet International Cricket Stadium. The second and final Test will be held at Chattogram’s Zahur Ahmed Chowdhury Stadium, commencing on April 28.

Notably, Dhaka’s Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium will not host any Test matches this time. This decision comes after Dhaka last missed hosting a Test in March 2024 when Sri Lanka played a two-Test series in Sylhet and Chattogram. A Bangladesh Cricket Board official mentioned that due to ongoing Dhaka Premier League matches at Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium, the board opted for Chattogram and Sylhet to ensure fresh pitches for the Test series.

The official explained that the regular Dhaka Premier League matches at Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium led to the choice of Chattogram and Sylhet as Test venues. These locations offer wickets that have had adequate rest, unlike Dhaka.
