The Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) has stated that it needs to secure clearance from the government and subsequently consult with players before a final decision can be made regarding the upcoming five-match T20 International series tour of Pakistan.
Bangladesh is scheduled to travel to the UAE on Wednesday (April 14) for a two-match T20I series against the UAE in Sharjah on May 17 and 19. However, the BCB had previously indicated that no final decision had been reached concerning the Pakistan tour, which is planned to follow the UAE series.
On May 13, the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) sent a revised itinerary for the proposed tour to the BCB. This revision was necessary due to changes in the Pakistan Super League (PSL) schedule, which were reportedly influenced by cross-border tensions between India and Pakistan.
Initially, Bangladesh was scheduled to play the five T20Is in Pakistan from May 25 to June 3. According to the revised schedule shared with BCB, the series is now expected to commence on May 27, with the final match set for June 5. The change was made because the PSL final is scheduled for May 25, the date originally set for the first T20I in Faisalabad.
The proposed draft from the PCB suggests the first three matches will be held in Faisalabad on May 27, May 29, and June 1, respectively. The remaining two T20Is are planned for Lahore on June 3 and June 5.
Despite the revised schedule, it has been learned that players and officials harbor concerns about traveling to Pakistan, primarily due to security issues. BCB president Faruque Ahmed acknowledged these reservations.
He emphasized that the board cannot make a decision unilaterally during this sensitive period and must consult with all relevant parties. Faruque confirmed that a letter was sent to the National Sports Council (NSC) on May 13, intended for the sports ministry, requesting government clearance. He also mentioned speaking with the sports advisor regarding the tour.
“First we have to get the clearance from the government and later we need to talk with the players and there are some other details that we might need to sort out like venues and all those things. We cannot take the decision alone as it is very sensitive issues,” Faruque stated.

उन्होंने कहा, “मैंने जोर देकर कहा कि पीएसएल शुरू हो गया है और आईपीएल जल्द ही फिर से शुरू होने वाला है। मुझे यकीन नहीं है कि (पाकिस्तान जाना) टिकाऊ है या नहीं, और यदि वे सरकार से कोई निर्देश देते हैं, तो हम खिलाड़ियों से बात करना शुरू कर देंगे और हमें सभी हितधारकों से बात करनी होगी।”
