Salman Khan, the CEO of Cricket Canada, who assumed his position in January, has publicly denied reports suggesting his arrest and subsequent release on bail. These reports alleged charges of theft and fraud stemming from his prior involvement in cricket administration. Khan firmly stated these claims are “completely false.” The charges are reportedly linked to his time as president of the Calgary and District Cricket League between 2014 and 2016.
Initially a civil case, the matter has reportedly progressed to criminal charges.
Khan addressed the rumors via a Facebook post on the Alberta Cricket Association page, stating, “I’ve seen many fake and fabricated posts circulating, and I want to clarify the situation. These are all untrue. I have never been arrested, detained, or placed on bail. These accusations are completely false, and those spreading these rumors will be held accountable.”
He further explained, “The truth is, a police complaint was made against me over seven years ago. A police investigator contacted me to hear my side of the story and review my evidence. He informed me that charges would be filed if I didn’t provide my account. I requested to meet after Ramadan, but he chose not to wait and proceeded with charges without considering my perspective or evidence.”
Khan maintains that nothing has been substantiated against him in the past seven years and he is prepared to continue defending himself. “Let me be clear: They have no proof against me. In seven years, they couldn’t prove anything in the civil case, and certainly not in any criminal case. I possess over 21 transcripts, where the complainant even admits the allegations were false.”
“I am not concerned at all. I am ready to fight as I have been for the last 8 years.”
