After securing the ICC Champions Trophy title, Hardik Pandya expressed his joy and aspirations. Reflecting on the 2017 Champions Trophy defeat against Pakistan, where he was run out while batting with Ravindra Jadeja, Pandya stated his ambition to win more ICC cups, aiming for five to six additional trophies. His contributions were significant in India’s Champions Trophy victory.

The tournament showcased emerging and established stars such as Shubman Gill (188 runs, including a century), Shreyas Iyer (243 runs with two fifties), Axar Patel (109 runs and five wickets), KL Rahul (140 runs at an average of 140.00), and Varun Chakravarthy (nine wickets), all playing crucial roles in India’s consecutive white-ball title wins.

Pandya recalled the 2017 tournament, saying, “In 2017, the job remained unfinished. I couldn’t complete it then, but I am incredibly happy to be able to say tonight that I am a Champions Trophy winner. It feels great. For me, it has always been about winning as many championships as possible. As I said after our 2024 win, it’s not enough. I still want five to six more trophies. I am delighted to add another one.”

Pandya emphasized his commitment to team victory above personal performance. “The most important aspect for me in my life and cricket journey is ensuring my team wins. It’s a very satisfying and calming moment every time I step onto the field. Even if I don’t personally contribute, if my team wins, that’s the most beautiful feeling,” he added.

Pandya lauded his teammates and acknowledged the exceptional talent displayed by every player throughout the tournament.

“Everyone stepped up and demonstrated their class at crucial moments, showcasing their belief, which is exceptional. I cherish games like these where everyone gives their all. I was playing for India, I was playing for Bharat. The Champions Trophy is secured. My next aim is the ICC T20 World Cup in India, to lift that cup,” he stated.

Pandya attributed the team’s victory over New Zealand in the ICC Champions Trophy 2025 final to their self-belief and skills, highlighting it as a collective team effort.
