Following India’s successful Champions Trophy campaign, all-rounder Hardik Pandya addressed the BCCI’s decision to have the team play their matches in Dubai instead of Pakistan. India played all their Champions Trophy games in Dubai, including the final against New Zealand, which they won by four wickets.
After the final in Dubai, Pandya responded to a question about India not playing in Pakistan. He indicated that the decision was beyond his authority to comment on.
“I’m sure Pakistani fans in Dubai enjoyed watching us play. The reason we didn’t go to Pakistan is a decision for higher authorities,” Pandya stated.
Pandya also reflected on the team’s victory and his own performance. “Bowling will manage itself. This year has been about learning and overcoming challenges. My approach is to face challenges head-on. If things get tough, I believe in fighting back.”
“If you stay in the game, you always have a chance to win,” Pandya added after India’s Champions Trophy victory.
Pandya mentioned his dedication to improving his game behind the scenes. “I’ve always been confident in my abilities, and the hard work I put in privately pays off. I believe preparation reflects in your performance on the field.”
This Champions Trophy win was especially meaningful for Pandya, helping him move past the disappointment of India’s loss to Pakistan in the 2017 edition.
“I can say a long-held dream is now fulfilled. Eight years is a significant period, and much has happened in that time. But winning, especially for India, is incredibly important to me.”
“It’s my principle in life: even if I don’t personally achieve anything, the team’s success is what truly matters,” he concluded.
Hardik Pandya is now set to participate in the upcoming IPL season, where he will captain the Mumbai Indians for the second time.
