Matt Henry possibly injured during semi-final

Matt Henry injured his shoulder while taking Heinrich Klaasen’s catch in the semi-final

Matt Henry’s participation in the Champions Trophy final is uncertain due to a shoulder injury he sustained during the semi-final match in Lahore.

Henry, who is the leading wicket-taker in the tournament, injured his shoulder while catching Heinrich Klaasen. Despite the injury, he returned to bowl later in the game against South Africa and was also seen fielding.

Initially, Mitchell Santner expressed optimism about Henry’s fitness after the semi-final. However, head coach Gary Stead has now indicated that Henry’s condition is still unclear just over 48 hours before the final.

Stead mentioned that scans have been conducted, and they are giving Henry every possible chance to recover for the final.

“It’s still a bit unknown at this point,” Stead admitted regarding Henry’s availability.

In this Champions Trophy, Henry has taken ten wickets with an average of 16.70. Notably, five of these wickets were taken in the group stage match against India in Dubai, which is also the venue for the final.

Stead explained that Henry is experiencing soreness from landing on his shoulder and hopes he will recover in time.

If Henry is unable to play, Jacob Duffy, another right-arm seamer in the squad, could replace him. Duffy has not played in the tournament yet but participated in a pre-tournament tri-series game against Pakistan, where he took one wicket for 48 runs in seven overs.
