Pakistan’s batting coach, Mohammad Yousuf, has changed his mind and will now accompany the national team on their tour to New Zealand for the white-ball matches. This reversal comes just hours after he had withdrawn from the tour. The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) had previously announced Yousuf’s withdrawal due to his daughter’s illness. However, a PCB official stated that Yousuf informed them of his daughter’s improved health, making him available to travel with the team. Yousuf, who was recently appointed as the batting coach for this tour, is scheduled to depart with the squad on Wednesday. He will be part of the coaching staff for the five T20 International matches and three One Day Internationals.
Yousuf’s appointment as batting coach followed Pakistan’s disappointing performance in the Champions Trophy. He was the only new addition to the team’s support staff for the New Zealand tour, with Aaqib Javed continuing as interim head coach and Azhar Mahmood as assistant coach.
The PCB has announced plans to begin the search for a permanent head coach after the conclusion of the New Zealand tour.
