Former Indian cricket captain, MS Dhoni, and his wife Sakshi, have arrived in Mussoorie to attend the wedding of Rishabh Pant’s sister. Sakshi Pant is marrying her fiancé, Ankit Choudhary. They got engaged last year, marking nine years of their relationship.
This visit comes before Dhoni is set to participate in the upcoming Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 with Chennai Super Kings. The tournament is scheduled to begin next week.
MS Dhoni will play for Chennai Super Kings (CSK) in the 2025 IPL season, aiming for his sixth championship under the captaincy of Ruturaj Gaikwad. CSK will begin their season against Mumbai Indians (MI) at their home stadium in Chepauk.
It remains uncertain whether this IPL season will be Dhoni’s last. Since his retirement from international cricket in 2020, there has been ongoing speculation about when he will conclude his successful IPL career, where he has already won five titles as captain.
For the 2025 season, CSK retained Dhoni as an uncapped player for Rs 4 crore. A recent IPL rule allows teams to retain uncapped players if they haven’t played international cricket for five years.
Since retiring from international cricket in 2020, Dhoni has only played in the IPL. In the 2024 season, he scored 161 runs in 11 innings with a strike rate of 220 and an average of 53.66, remaining not out eight times and effectively playing the role of a finisher for Chennai Super Kings.
Dhoni is currently the sixth-highest run-scorer in IPL history, with 5,243 runs in 264 matches, including 24 half-centuries. His highest score is 84 not out. Besides CSK, he also played for the now-defunct Rising Pune Supergiant from 2016-17.
