Matthews demonstrated her strong back-foot play, particularly hitting boundaries on the off-side. She reached her second fifty of the season against UP Warriorz with a well-timed shot between point and cover-point.
She aggressively attacked Chinelle Henry, hitting a six over deep midwicket, and followed it up with consecutive boundaries against Sophie Ecclestone. Mumbai Indians reached 50 runs for the loss of one wicket during the powerplay.
Although UP Warriorz captain Deepti Sharma took a brilliant catch to dismiss Nat Sciver-Brunt (37 runs off 23 balls), Mumbai Indians only needed 35 more runs from 43 balls at that stage.
In the following over, Matthews continued her aggressive batting, smashing a boundary and a six off bowler Kranti Goud.
However, her impressive innings of 68 runs, which included eight fours and two sixes, came to an end in the same over.
Yastika Bhatia (10 runs off 6 balls) then ensured Mumbai Indians’ victory by hitting two boundaries off Deepti Sharma in the penultimate over, securing the win with nine balls remaining.

However, Mumbai Indians fought back, taking three wickets in a short span of 14 balls.
