The tenth season of the Pakistan Super League (PSL) is set to commence on April 11 in Rawalpindi, featuring a match between the reigning champions, Islamabad United, and the two-time titleholders, Lahore Qalandars. A total of 34 matches will be played in four cities: Rawalpindi, Karachi, Multan, and Lahore. The playoffs are scheduled for Rawalpindi on May 13, Lahore on May 14 and 16, and the final will also take place in Lahore on May 18.

Lahore’s Gaddafi Stadium will be the primary venue, hosting 13 games, including two playoff matches and the final. Rawalpindi will host 11 matches, including the opening game and the first qualifier. Karachi and Multan will each host five matches. There will be three double-header days:

  • April 12: Peshawar Zalmi vs Quetta Gladiators in Rawalpindi & Karachi Kings vs Multan Sultans in Karachi
  • May 1: Multan Sultans vs Karachi Kings in Multan & Lahore Qalandars vs Quetta Gladiators
  • May 10: Multan Sultans vs Quetta Gladiators in Multan & Islamabad United vs Karachi Kings in Rawalpindi

Salman Naseer, the PSL chief executive, stated in a press release, “We are excited to announce the schedule for the tenth edition of the HBL Pakistan Super League. Over the last ten years, PSL has become a globally recognized tournament, showcasing the best cricket talent in Pakistan.”

In addition, an exhibition match is planned in Peshawar on April 8, prior to the tournament’s official start. The teams for this match are yet to be announced. This initiative is part of PSL’s commitment to expand its reach and bring high-quality cricket to Peshawar, a city known for its strong passion for the sport.

Naseer added, “Hosting an exhibition match in Peshawar is a significant step towards bringing top-tier cricket to the city. We are dedicated to improving the experience for everyone involved – players, fans, and stakeholders, who have enjoyed thrilling contests in the league over the years.”

Starting this year, the PSL will be held in April and May, overlapping with the Indian Premier League (IPL). This schedule adjustment is due to changes in the international cricket calendar, with the league moving from its traditional window to accommodate other international events and the growing presence of other T20 leagues.

This season will be the last with six teams, as the PCB and franchises have agreed to expand the league to eight teams starting in 2026.

The cities for the two new teams are yet to be announced. Existing franchise ownership agreements are expiring in 2025, and while current owners have the first right of refusal, there may be potential changes in team ownership and locations in the future.
