Sunil Gavaskar Ends Champions Trophy 2025 ‘Unfair Advantage’ Talks

खेल समाचार » Sunil Gavaskar Ends Champions Trophy 2025 ‘Unfair Advantage’ Talks

Legendary Indian cricketer Sunil Gavaskar dismissed discussions about India’s ‘unfair advantage’ at the Champions Trophy 2025. Due to political tensions, India played all matches, including the final, in Dubai, which sparked talks about an advantage for Rohit Sharma’s team as they did not need to change venues. Gavaskar rejected these claims after India’s victory over New Zealand, mentioning that England, often a critic, couldn’t win ICC trophies for a long time, even when playing at home.

Gavaskar noted that the decision about the venue was made by the ICC in advance, and criticism should have been voiced before the tournament started. He also emphasized that if home advantage was the decisive factor, England, who hosted tournaments many times, would have won ICC trophies before 2019.

Gavaskar praised captain Rohit Sharma and noted that India’s victory was due to a balanced team and key players who proved themselves at different moments of the tournament.

He added that Rohit Sharma’s captaincy, which brought India two ICC titles, puts him on par with MS Dhoni. Sharma also denied rumors about retirement.
