The Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) has updated its central contracts for men’s cricketers for 2025, with Taskin Ahmed standing out as the only player in the top Grade A+ category.
For 2025, BCB has revised its salary structure, moving from a format-based system to a grade-based system. This change is intended to better compensate Test cricket specialists.
Taskin Ahmed’s Grade A+ contract will see him earn BDT 1 million (approximately USD 8,200) per month. Last year, he was in a white-ball-only contract category.
Bangladesh national team captain Najmul Hossain Shanto is placed in Grade A, along with three other cricketers. Grade A contracts come with a monthly salary of BDT 800,000 (approximately USD 6,600). It’s notable that the captain is in the second tier, as typically captains are awarded the highest contract grade.
Mushfiqur Rahim is also listed in Grade A. However, following his ODI retirement, he will be moved to Grade B, where the monthly salary is BDT 600,000 (approximately USD 4,900).
Fast bowler Nahid Rana has earned a Grade B contract after a strong performance in 2024. He is one of four new players to receive contracts this year. Jaker Ali, Tanzid Hasan, and Rishad Hossain are the other newcomers, all placed in Grade C, with a monthly salary of BDT 400,000 (approximately USD 3,300).
BCB’s official statement mentioned that Mahmudullah, who recently turned 39, requested not to be considered for a central contract after February 2025.
Soumya Sarkar and Shadman Islam are returning to BCB central contracts for the first time since 2021 and 2022, respectively.
Several players who held contracts last year are not included in the current list. These include Shakib Al Hasan, Zakir Hasan, Mahmudul Hasan Joy, Naeem Hasan, and Nurul Hasan.
