In a thrilling Champions Trophy final held in Dubai on Sunday, India faced off against New Zealand. New Zealand’s captain, Mitchell Santner, decided to bat first after winning the coin toss. This marked India’s 15th consecutive lost toss in ODIs, and 12th under captain Rohit Sharma. Despite this, Indian bowlers performed admirably, limiting New Zealand to 251 runs for 7 wickets in 50 overs. Varun Chakaravarthy and Kuldeep Yadav stood out, each taking two wickets. Daryl Mitchell top-scored for New Zealand with 63 runs.
Aside from the exciting cricket action, the presence of Indian spinner Yuzvendra Chahal in the stadium also drew attention.
Chahal was seen in the stands during the final in Dubai with a woman. This woman, identified as Mahvash, is reportedly a well-known radio jockey.
Chahal’s appearance with Mahvash comes while he is in the midst of divorce proceedings with his wife, Dhanashree Verma.
Rumors of their separation had been circulating for months on social media. Confirmation of their divorce filing emerged about a week prior. Reports indicated that the couple attended the Bandra Family Court for their final hearing and necessary procedures. However, Dhanashree’s lawyer clarified that the legal process is still ongoing.
Dhanashree’s lawyer, Aditi Mohan, stated, ‘I have no comments to make on the proceedings, the matter is currently sub judice. The media should verify facts before reporting, as much misleading information is being spread.’
Numerous media outlets also claimed Dhanashree was seeking Rs 60 crore in alimony, but her family vehemently denied these claims, urging the media to avoid spreading misinformation.
A statement from Dhanashree’s family expressed outrage at the unfounded alimony claims, asserting that no such amount was ever requested or offered. They condemned the irresponsible publication of unverified information and emphasized the harm caused by such reckless reporting, requesting media restraint, fact-checking, and respect for privacy.
On the professional front, Chahal is set to play for Punjab Kings in the upcoming IPL 2025 season, having been acquired for a substantial sum of Rs 18 crore in the previous mega auction.
